Our Company & Production

img

Verge Sport is an American brand with European roots and an international presence. The inspiration behind the company came from the clothing needs of an elite athlete and company founder, Michael Magur. Racing in the European road cycling circuit throughout the early 1990s, it became apparent that the custom technical apparel that was available at the time was not keeping up with the peloton's needs. The wheels turned, and Verge Sport was born in 1999.

Since the inception of Verge Sport, we have made it a point to push the limits as a technical clothing brand. While we are experts at what we do, we have remained connected to our roots as athletes, so our wants and needs are the same as yours. Verge Sport is knowledgeable and confident about all levels of custom sublimation and technical garment production without being elitist or discouraging. We speak to the top-end, technically-minded consumer while welcoming sports apparel newcomers.

"WE ARE ATHLETES FIRST AND BUSINESS PEOPLE SECOND, SO OUR APPROACH IS DIFFERENT THAN MOST...

WE LOOK AT EVERYTHING THROUGH THE EYES OF A CLIENT, THEN REVERSE ENGINEER THE SYSTEM".

FOUNDER - MICHAEL MAGUR

Athletes worldwide have worn Verge Sport garments on their way to the podium for over two decades. Our offices in New York, Europe, and Asia have decades of custom athletic apparel experience. Our family-owned production facilities in Poland and the Philippines use the latest in digital sublimation equipment, which can create a full range of custom cycling, running, triathlon, and nordic sportswear with industry-leading quality and turnaround times.

Our company mission is for you to be happy with our product and the entire ordering and communication process. We are confident you will be as excited as we are to push the limits with Verge Sport, and we look forward to seeing you out on the open road.

State-of-the-art sublimation methods are vital to the production of your garments, while the know-how of our talented team members ensures we produce products to the highest standards. We produce and develop our products in-house in two Verge Sport family-owned production facilities, using a mixture of old-school, handmade techniques alongside modern processes and equipment. Our proprietary management system allows us to oversee your order from the moment it is placed, through every step of the production process, up to the final quality control just before shipping out the door.

We have over 300 team members working in unison across our various production and quality control departments. Our production facilities utilize approximately 5,000 square meters (54,000 square feet) of space, and our senior production management team has decades of custom sublimation experience.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

It is our business and passion to produce only the finest custom sports apparel! Our development team works tirelessly from concept to finished product. Countless pattern tweaks are made, taking special care to incorporate only the highest quality fabrics with race-proven technology & features, all while listening to and fulfilling the needs of our customers.

SOURCING

Our development team sources only the best materials from all over the world, incorporating them into each garment. From moisture-wicking to sun-blocking, ventilating to insulating, we choose the highest quality fabrics with minimized environmental impacts while creating the world's best custom sports apparel.

Cutting

We utilize custom spreading and cutting tables, each dedicated to a specific type of fabric; while using various manually operated power knives, we ensure accurate cutting of the different elements and fabrics in your custom products. We print each pattern element using garment-specific marker software on one of our pattern printers. The cut elements are then safely stored in a unique contaminant-free room awaiting the sublimation process.

Printing

We produce our custom garments using large-format, state-of-the-art digital printers. We constantly evaluate our sublimation process and printers, ensuring we are using the most current advancements in the industry. We have tailor-built print profiles which allow us to fine-tune our colors to be some of the deepest and darkest in the industry. We then print your custom-designed artwork onto transfer papers using eco-friendly water-based inks, which we will later use in the sublimation department. Finally, one of our team members checks all colors using a spectrophotometer, comparing the color LAB values to control samples. The Delta E variance determines if the order can proceed to the sublimation department.

SUBLIMATION

The process starts with placing the cut elements of fabric onto the printed papers. Then, through sublimation, turning the printed inks into a gaseous state and immediately cooling them, we permanently impregnate the fabric with your design using deep, vibrant colors. We use only the best Italian-made Monte Antonio® calender transfer presses for this operation due to their accuracy and finite ability to control the exact time, pressure, and temperature during the transfer operation.

Sewing

Our sewing departments have a vast assortment of fully automated sewing machines, each specifically configured for the operations needed to construct your custom garment. Thread types, colors, needle types, and sizes are just some of the many details our staff controls during this production stage. The care and attention of our team members ensures we meet the highest standards throughout the production of your custom garments.

Quality Control

We check and recheck every color, parameter, and detail of your order to ensure the products delivered are what you ordered. We start by examining the sublimated artwork and compare that to the approved design proofs; then, we confirm the final colors match those from your approved design. Every garment is measured in multiple locations to ensure the sewn sizing matches the product specifications, and finally, we check fabric, stitching, and zippers for blemishes. If we find the slightest imperfection, the garment will be refused and sent back to production for repair or replacement.
